Story

Curate is a residential construction and development company led by husband and wife team Graham & Amanda Davidson. The Davidsons grew up in the construction industry and founded Curate as a response to the often cold and stressful experience associated with homebuilding. The noun “Curate” (pronounced ˈkyur-ət) is defined as a ‘caretaker of souls’ and it is this reverence for people and objects that defines the Davidsons vision for building and permeates the entire process. Curate is an architecturally driven builder, working closely with a design team well before anyone swings a hammer. Their attention to detail is made manifest in high-end finishes and is equally present in the lasting structures and materials under the surface. The Davidsons see themselves as stewards of your project, ensuring your budget and timeline are handled with great care. Most importantly, Curate is about a love for people and a passion for building beautiful spaces that can be enjoyed each and every day. Graham and Amanda would be humbled to partner with you on the journey of building your new home.

Bios

Graham Davidson - Co-founder / General Contractor

Graham’s construction experience dates back to high school, where he did everything from demoing asphalt shingle roofs in the summer heat to building houses, barns and luxury boat docks. Prior to founding Curate, Graham had a successful career as a television production executive. When his company needed a new office space, he helmed the redevelopment and renovation of a 20,000 square foot commercial space into a state-of-the-art production facility in downtown Austin. When he wasn’t building stories for television, he was always running his own building projects and home renovations on the side. Leaving behind his executive role to start Curate, he brings his rare combination of leadership abilities and nuts & bolts knowledge to every building project as Lead Builder and General Contractor.

Amanda Davidson - Co-founder / Interiors, Selection and Design

Amanda is an artist first and foremost, from her undergraduate studies of art & art history at UNT and the University of Glasgow, to releasing a successful singer-songwriter album. The daughter of an architect, Amanda’s passion for design was nurtured from a young age, and she balances her artistic side with an astute mind for details and organization. Prior to founding Curate, she worked in logistics at a large advertising agency in Austin, assisting in the agency side coordination of their HOK designed office build-out and coordinating the on-boarding of dozens of employees. Amanda brings her keen design eye and administrative ability to Curate as Co-Founder & Designer. She’s available to custom tailor an interiors selection package based on your scope or to coordinate selections for projects that already have a designer on board.

Austen Menges - Project Manager, Estimator

Before joining Curate, Austen Menges spent the past decade working in the advertising & film production industry where he logged over 20,000 hours of project management experience, including estimating, bidding, overseeing and delivering hundreds of creative projects. His love for architecture and building grew when he had the opportunity to be on a small team that revived a historic music venue in downtown Austin into a contemporary venue and creative office. Soon after he began redeveloping his own residential projects and eventually pursued his passion full-time by joining the Curate team as Project Manager.

Phil Tharel - Project Site Supervisor

Phil brings 15+ years of varied construction experience to the Curate team. His professional start was in Nashville, where he gained onsite experience with a commercial and multifamily general contractor. He spent 10 years in New York managing a wide range of large scale construction projects at the Metropolitan Museum of Art including a renovation and restoration of the mid-century brutalist Breuer Building and the Met’s complete overhaul of its Fifth Ave plaza. He returned to Nashville, managing commercial, university and industrial projects for a large real estate services company. In his role at Curate, he is returning to the nuts and bolts of construction, with a focus on building productive and lasting relationships while executing on design at the highest levels.
